Nature in the home........

I have read some lovely posts recently that link up with Lou from Little green shed the shared theme has been all about bringing nature indoors.  Today the weather is lovely it's very sunny and the sun is pouring through the windows making everywhere look bright and cheery (although still quite cold) I have filled my house with flowers to make it spring like and pretty all ready for my Easter egg hunt tomorrow. Looking round at my flowers, plants and pots of herbs on the kitchen windowsill it feels like I have brought a little bit of nature into my home. (I haven't even counted the Easter chicks and assorted eggs all about the place)

I hope you like them too............have a lovely Easter and thank you again for all the wonderful comments.

Easter list - revisited......................

As it's Good Friday I thought it would be a good idea to revisit my list - how have I done...............

Easter List

1. Clean house - finished

2. Laundry - washed, dried and folded

3. Ironing. - all ironed and put away

4. Food shopping - cupboards and fridge are full

5. Bake for afternoon tea - about half way

cup cakes baked and ready to freeze - I will defrost them and ice on Sunday morning.............

lemon sponges baked and ready to be popped in the freezer until Sunday then they will be defrosted and sandwiched together with lemon curd and butter cream  - yummy

I made this cake with Zachy and he called it a rainbow cake - it looks scary but it tastes nice

on with the rest of the list.................

6.Organise Easter egg hunt - write clues, hide eggs etc - not yet!

7.Check I have enough Easter eggs for everyone - all checked I have a plentiful supply

8.Buy flowers - bought and they look perfect in my decorated jam jars

9. Turn up and hem lounge curtains  - they have been turned up and are hanging at the windows - I have to confess I didn't hem them myself but they look lovely and the lady who did them for me has done a wonderful job.

10. Hairdressers - hair trimmed and coloured to perfection.

I have also decorated my little white tree and it looks lovely and the crochet bunnies are well on the way. I have made two so far but I haven't assembled the pieces yet. Hopefully if I have an hour to spare later I can crochet them together.

Just had a call from Kate and she is coming home today rather than tomorrow  - which is great I can't wait to give Jake a big hug but I better get on with my jobs before she arrives..................

I think I have done really well with my list - I did have some help along the way but I've added a number of extra things during the week.

Hope you all have lots of fun and a wonderful Easter weekend.

My creative space - pretty candle holder

I love Sania Pell's blog and always read her posts, a few weeks ago she shared a simple idea of covering a glass candle holder with a strip of Liberty fabric. So simple but so lovely have a quick look here.

I have had a go - what do you think............

I started off with my strip of pretty floral Liberty print, and double sided tape - plus candle which I forgot to photograph!

I measured the circumference of the glass holder and then added a little for overlap, added double sided tape to both short ends of fabric. Then stuck one end to the glass, wrapped fabric around and peeled off the other strip of double sided tape and secured.

I left the fabric edges slightly frayed which I like and then added some twine around the middle, you could add ribbon or not even bother.

I think it looks cute - do check out Sania's post as the ones she has made look beautiful and the post includes the full instructions

For more ideas and inspiration pop over to see Kirsty on my creative space.

Yarn along - crochet bunny

For this weeks yarn along I am making a little crochet bunny. The pattern started out as an owl and then became a bunny I book marked both patterns as I quite fancied making one. Last night I was visiting my favourite blogs and came across the bunny on Attic 24 Lucy had also seen the pattern and been very tempted. So as Easter is looming I thought it would be good to have one or two of the bunnies nestling between the chocolate eggs on my Easter egg hunt.

The book I am reading this week is delightful  - I have been waiting for the postman to bring me Pretty Patchwork Gifts by Helen Philips - it arrived yesterday and it's just perfect. I follow Helen's blog which is such a tonic, it's always so fresh, colourful and full of inspirational ideas. I have wanted to make some little house cushions for ages and Helen featured them on her blog last week - I just had to order the book. The book doesn't disappoint it's like having a bit of Helen on your book shelf...............I can't wait to start sewing but I do have a few rabbits to complete first.

Don't forget to nip over to see Ginny and all of her yarn along followers and if you fancy putting your yarn down for a few days do pop over to see Helen.

Thank you again for all of your kind words - you make my day when you leave me a comment.

52 weeks of happy - 13/52............

I find it hard to believe that this is my 13th - 52 weeks of happy post. A quarter of the year has flown by since I decided to join in with Jen and share 4 happy moments that make me smile. I thought that sometimes it might be difficult to come up with four but most weeks I have a long list and have to whittle it down to four.

1. Tunisian crochet - I love it ............................

2, Baking and decorating cup cakes always gives me lots to smile about - this batch were for Vicky........

3. My first week at The Blossoms  Knitting  Group - had lots of fun and met lots of really nice women.......

 4. Spending time in Paperchase and choosing some Easter decorations for my little white tree ..................

Another perfect week I hope you have all had fun...........................

finishing touches, lists and a Tunisian owl ..................

Yesterday I had a lovely quiet day, my favourite sort of Sunday. I spent some time completing a few projects that just needed the final finishing touches. I have sewn up my baby hat, finished some crochet heart bunting, and I made a little owl shaped cushion (not very owl like) from my small swatch of Tunisian crochet.

I also washi taped a few more tin cans, some of them I have painted on the inside - this was quite tricky, not sure I would do it again. As I had a pot of emulsion paint handy I also painted a jam jar on the inside - it was a project from this month’s Homemaker and was supposed to look like milk glass - I quite like the look but I need to do a few more to perfect, as not sure this one worked that well. The inside lip of the jar didn't have a good finish so I have added a strip of washi tape around the rim of the jar which looks quite pretty.

I've got a busy week a head of me with lot of jobs to do before Friday. Kate, Seb and Jake are coming to stay for the Easter long weekend (I can't wait) and then I have my Easter egg hunt on Sunday afternoon which will involve 18 adults and 8 children followed by afternoon tea for everyone.

I feel a list coming on, but I don't think I am going to like it as some of the jobs will involve cleaning (not crafting, or crochet)

Easter List

Clean house
Laundry
Ironing
Food shopping
Bake for afternoon tea
Organise Easter egg hunt - write clues, hide eggs etc
Check I have enough Easter eggs for everyone
Buy flowers
Turn up and hem lounge curtains (decorating almost finished)
Hairdressers

Well I better make a start but forgot to say I am about to meet Barbara for another mini spa day. We  supported a charity fund raising evening for Stockport Women's Centre a few weeks ago and received a VIP pass for Mottram Hall with a free beauty treatment each and full use of the spa facilities (including fluffy white gown and slippers to chill out in) I can't wait.

Thank you once again for following my blog and all of your lovely comments (if you would like to follow me I have also added a Bloglovin link as well as Google friends)

brothers - precious moments......................

I was in the kitchen pottering and the two little ones were playing nicely, then Zachy asked if he could watch TV, I switched it on and went to get the boys a snack. When I returned they had snuggled on the chair together and Zachy had a protective big brother arm around Noah - such a moment to treasure.

I love my little brother.....................

I have to say this picture of brotherly love didn't last very long, Noah was soon wriggling out of Zach’s arms, climbing over him to climb onto the cupboard - leaving Zachy upset because Noah was hurting him - such fun.
